COLD CALLS is a quirky little ski film that highlights the value of conversation and spontaneity.
Following the momentum of a decade-plus of mind-blowing productions, the Pemberton and Whistler-based Blank Collective Films crew is back with their 11th feature: COLD CALLS, presented by Salomon. This is a unique film stitched together from late-night (or early morning) phone calls, hazy memories and whichever mega-stashes the season offered up.
The film travels the globe: storm cycles and low-visibility mayhem in Whistler, thigh-deep powder in Hokkaido, big alpine faces in Norway and rare Alaska sunshine—each call, each invite via text, brought a new story. Some scenes are laugh-out-loud, some cut a little deeper and most sit somewhere in between. The film isn’t a rigid plan so much as the legit record of a season that kept offering up surprise after surprise. Directed and edited by Quebec-born Alexi Godbout, COLD CALLS feels like a group conversation that somehow became a movie.

Blank Collective: Character-Driven
Blank Collective has steadily built a reputation for tight, character-driven ski films that celebrate place and personality as much as line choice. Recent full-length releases and tour films from the group include Tales From Cascadia (a six-part tribute to the Pacific Northwest), Feel Real and Camp Blank—all of which leaned heavy on local stories, camaraderie and cinematic powder sequences. COLD CALLS continues that thread, but leans into a more conversational, patchwork storytelling approach this time.

The Cast
Emma Patterson — a former racer turned freeski competitor, Emma has been featured in Blank Collective projects and is a supported Salomon athlete known for fast, committed big-mountain lines and a background on the Freeride World Tour circuit.
Jacob Bélanger — a Quebec-bred freeskier who has built his profile through hard-charging park-to-backcountry skiing and a steady run of edits and projects that showcase his roots in the Quebec scene.

Alex Armstrong — originally a ski-racer turned big-mountain skier from the Ottawa/Gatineau area, Alex now lives on the coast (Squamish area) and has appeared in Blank Collective segments and related productions; she’s also active producing and writing about mountain culture.
Bernt Marius Rørstad — a Norwegian freeskier whose resilience and story have drawn international attention in recent seasons (documentary/feature coverage has followed his return to skiing after a life-changing accident). He’s a compelling presence on-screen for both ability and narrative.
Josh Daiek — Pacific Northwest veteran and personality: a pro skier-filmmaker hybrid who’s been a part of the Blank Collective circle for years and brings a blend of creative filmmaking and hard-charging skiing to the crew.
Wyatt Gentry — a Jackson/Teton-area up-and-comer who came through Salomon’s Junior MTN Collective and early short films, known for bold, youthful freeride lines and a quick rise through junior ranks.
Tom Peiffer — Whistler-based freeride competitor and Freeride World Tour athlete with a strong contest resume and big-mountain chops; regularly featured in freeride coverage and projects that bridge competitive and film work.
