Apple TV+ has released The Wild Ones, a six-part doco that drops viewers into some of the planet’s most remote, rugged ecosystems alongside a team of elite wildlife experts. The immersive series documents urgent conservation expeditions across six countries—from the rainforests of Malaysia to the icy waters of the Canadian North Atlantic.
Led by expedition leader and former Royal Marines Commando Aldo Kane, wildlife camera expert Declan Burley, and naturalist-filmmaker Vianet Djenguet, The Wild Ones combines physical grit, field science and new technology to track and help protect critically endangered species. Along the way, the team captures rare and often first-ever footage of elusive wildlife including the Malayan tiger, Javan rhino, Gobi bear, Caucasian leopard, Western lowland gorilla, and North Atlantic right whale.
The crew utilizes over 350 custom-designed remote cameras, thermal drones, underwater tagging devices, and AI-enhanced imaging to document animal behaviour never before seen on film. Their work not only offers intimate glimpses into the lives of Earth’s rarest creatures, but also contributes directly to field conservation—like discovering a new rhino, confirming a litter of tiger cubs and bolstering anti-poaching patrols.
