After years skiing some of the world’s most challenging slopes, pro freerider Chris Rubens made a dramatic lifestyle shift towards sustainability—a transformation both inspiring and timely.
The film Farming Turns, presented by Picture, offers a glimpse into Rubens’ transformation as he transitions from a globe-spanning extreme skier to a skilled and dedicated organic farmer in Revelstoke, BC. Alongside his wife Jesse Johnston-Hill, Rubens embraces a life tied to the land, the elements and their natural cycles.
For Rubens, winters remain a time for skiing, but with a new emphasis on self-propelled ski-touring rather than carbon-intensive heli skiing.
Green season brings the rewards of farming, a pursuit as challenging as it is fulfilling, and one that reflects the shifts in climate and nature that Rubens has grown to respect.
