A snowbound 70-kilometre trail run reveals the stark beauty of Ontario’s Bruce Peninsula minus the summer crowds.

This new 10-minute doc follows four runners as they tackle a winter trail run from Lion’s Head to Tobermory along the dolostone spine of Ontario’s Bruce (Saugeen) Peninsula. Shot in December 2025, the film showcases the unrelenting grind of navigating this landscape in winter, where deep snow swallows the Bruce Trail, and the exposed Georgian Bay shoreline, punctuated by 60-metre cliffs, offers little shelter from frigid winds.
What begins as an ambitious point-to-point run quickly becomes a test of mettle for the young runners. Progress is uneven, with long stretches breaking trail through heavy snow, over icy rock gardens and high-drifted forest corridors, juggling the ultra-runner’s calculus of layering, fueling and pacing in sub-zero temperatures.
The film explores the mindset behind cold-weather endurance where the runners lean into discomfort and relish the passage through a landscape at its most elemental. It also highlights the strength of the local trail-running community in Collingwood, South Georgian Bay and the Peninsula, where mutual support makes ambitious efforts like this possible.
At the same time, the short film underscores how deeply place shapes experience. The escarpment cliffs, cedar forests and rugged shore are not just backdrop but active participants in the story.
