When you’re booking it down the mountain at mach speed on your mountain bike, there are two things that can ruin your adrenaline buzz — dust and wind tears. The fine folks at JULBO have addressed these two issues with the new Aerospeed, a pair of performance ‘shades’ that wrap so nicely around your face and eyes, all that dust and wind become a moot point.
And for sweaty uphill climbs when your lenses get foggy at the top? The Aerospeed have that covered as well, as the lenses don’t get smothered between your face and a traditional ‘frame’ — because there isn’t one, and they come with an anti-fog and oil-repellent coating. We haven’t tried them our XC skiing yet, but they are made for endurance athletes who want a solid performance lens so we’re betting they are a good year-round choice for anything outside.
Without a helmet they can be a bit slippery on the face, but if they are tucked in under your helmet’s straps they’re snug as a bug all day long. And finally we can’t end this review without mentioning the Photochromic lenses that adapt to light levels and intensify contrast of terrain for mountain biking, Nordic skiing and trail running.
