Since joining 1% For The Planet in 2012, Thirsty Buddha has experienced incredible growth, allowing us to contribute to organizations who do amazing work all over the world. After completing our first year as a member of 1% For The Planet, we stayed local and made our donation to the David Suzuki Foundation. The foundation works with individuals and other organizations to maintain sustainable practices and protect the environment. We believe in and love the work they do, therefore a portion of our 2013 donation was reserved for them once again.
Thirsty Buddha’s growth from 2012 to 2013 allowed us to spread the love to the following nonprofits:
Charity Water is a charity we’re really excited to be working with this year. With our donation we were able to sponsor an entire water project. Hydration is essential to life. We are fortunate to live in Canada where potable water is easily accessible and perhaps taken for granted, and wanted to help others gain accessibility in other regions of the world.

Oceana is an organization who’s focused on ocean conservation and protects the open waters. Oceans are the lifeblood of our planet. They cover nearly three-quarters of our planet and produce more than half of the oxygen found in the atmosphere. The air we breathe, food we eat, water we drink, products that keep us entertained, cozy and safe — all relate back to or are transported by the ocean.

Trees for the Future is an organization dedicated to reforestation in rural communities in the developing world. They plant trees to help restore the environment, grow food and build a sustainable future, all while changing lives.

As a business, we strongly believe it is essential to assume a proactive role in the preservation of our planet for generations to come. Although the donation comes from Thirsty Buddha, it’s made on behalf of everyone who supports us and buys our products. It’s only fair we do our part to protect this world we all share. Whether it be access to clean drinking water or working on the preservation of an entire ocean bed; 1% for the Planet does an incredible job of connecting businesses with organizations who all share a common idea – invest in a healthier planet.
