As the tallest ski resort in the Eastern Townships, the mighty Mont Orford clocks in at 589 metres. Situated in a national park, the resort consists of three interconnected mountains offering a fair share of beginner, intermediate and advanced terrain, including mellow cruisers and epic glades. Orford’s also the home resort of 1994 aerialist Olympian Nicolas Fontaine (who has his own run) and it houses the only hybrid-gondola in the townships.
Thanks to the successful launch of Orford’s terrain-based learning program last season, keep your eyes peeled for an expansion in the beginner’s area. The resort has also brought in new snowmaking equipment for this winter. Make sure to check out Orford’s Saturday après-ski events starting at 3 p.m., and the After Dark descent complete with a raclette party at the Slalom Pub.
In the summer, cyclists can take full advantage of the trails running through Mont Orford National Park. There’s a laidback 5.5 km path that all ages can enjoy, or a more challenging 10 km route for those looking to feel their legs burn.
