Just over an hour north of Toronto, Horseshoe is a quaint ski resort that’s easily accessible from the Highway 400 artery. Offering 29 alpine runs and 45 km of Nordic trails (for cross-country skiing, snowshoeing and fat biking) plus a fun terrain park, Horseshoe’s the ideal spot to take a few turns once the school or workday is done. At night, head to the Crazy Horse and enjoy a burger and a post-shred pint with friends—it’s a time-honoured tradition. And don’t miss the annual Horseshoe Open festival during March Break complete with big air, slopestyle and rail jam contests held right outside the lodge.
In the summer, mountain bikers at Horseshoe can enjoy 30 km of lift-accessed trails featuring ladders, boxes and bridges. The nearby Copeland Forest is also home to 400 acres of terrain, while road cyclists can take full advantage of the over 800 km of paved roads in nearby Oro-Medonte.
