KEEN DNA, reworked through a Parisian design lens.
KEEN’s collaboration with Paris design house PHILEO feels less like a typical brand crossover and more like high concept meets rugged performance.
PHILEO has built an international rep for its minimalist, detail-driven footwear. The new Targher PHILEO (for men or women), fuses their spirit of experimentation with KEEN’s outdoor DNA.

The shoe merges elements of KEEN’s well-loved Targhee hiking boot and Jasper sneaker. PHILEO’s influence shows up in the exposed construction details, including a visible heel counter, reversed leather on the tongue and stitching that’s intentionally left “raw.” It’s a design choice that highlights how the shoe is built rather than hiding it, adding character while upholding function.
“The inside-out approach came from the functional origins of the Targhee and all the structural elements that we’re used to playing with as footwear designers that people are not used to seeing.” – Designer Philéo Landowski
On foot, the Targher PHILEO sticks closely to what KEEN does well. There’s a roomy forefoot, solid grip from the lugged outsole and a sense of durability and protection (including a reassuringly burly toecap) that aligns with the brand’s rep. Materials are thoughtfully sourced, including Leather Working Group-certified leather, and KEEN’s probiotic-based odour control.
The shoe doesn’t overcommit to fashion at the expense of usability, nor does it feel like a standard hiking shoe with aesthetic tweaks. Instead, it lands somewhere in between: an outdoor-ready silhouette retooled with an edgier design approach. And there may be some confusion about where and when you wear this shoe.

But since the shoe’s forbears are the Targhee hiker and Jasper sneaker, the Targher PHILEO should be at home both on the trail and anywhere in between. It may not provide the same heel-lock or weatherproofing as the Targhee, but it offers more cushion on pavement. And it may not be as lightweight as the Jasper, but it offers solid, protective footing.
It is definitely a niche offering (as many collabs are) but the KEEN Targher PHILEO makes a convincing case for footwear that doesn’t require us to choose between high function and high style.
