Snow season may be over in the east and winding down in the west, but there’s always time for one more snowboard edit.
Ben Howells‘ Nebulae clocks in at just under four minutes, and features hardly any narration. It’s an immersive splitboard tour of the Revelstoke backcountry that is dreamlike in its intensity.
While most touring films focus on big missions and/or difficult-to-access, gnarly terrain, Nebulae instead highlights local, accessible terrain that maxes out the stoke meter. All terrain in the film—which features Seb Grondin, Claudia Bambi and Seb Konijnenberg—is within a 20-minute drive of Revelstoke and did not require snowmobile access.
About the filmmaker:
From playing with handed-down camcorders and disposable 35mm single use cameras capturing snowboarding at the local dryslope, to working with international brands, agencies, World Champions and Olympic athletes, Ben Howells has been involved in professional video production for over 10 years as Pilchard Productions, with a primary focus on filming in outdoor and backcountry environments, capturing the natural beauty of the world and the sports that take place in them. He is based between Revelstoke and Bristol, England.
