The park is a tribute to the rich MTB heritage of BC’s Rossland and Kootenay region.
Rossland’s singletrack network has cemented the west Kootenays as a premier hub for mountain biking. With RED’s lift-accessed Mountain Bike Park slated to open on June 21, that legacy is poised to reach even greater heights.
To crank up the stoke, RED has just dropped Episode One of a two-part video series, Standing on the Shoulders of Legends.
This first chapter dives into the early days of mountain biking in the storied Kootenays—an homage to the pioneers, builders and die-hards who shaped the fledgling scene. The new park is a culmination of decades of trail craft and epic descents—not to mention, a passionate riding community that has put this region on the global MTB map.
“It’s hard to know where you’re going if you don’t know where you’ve been.” That’s the heart of Of Legends—a stirring look at the culture, athletes and trails that have made Rossland such a bike bonanza.
To help realize the park vision, RED partnered with Whistler’s Gravity Logic, the masterminds behind some of earth’s top parks. The goal was a ride experience that welcomes first-timers, weekenders and hardened shredders alike. So whether you’re looking to send, flow, grind or learn, the RED Mountain Bike Park is built for progression.
For Canadians looking for more homegrown experiences, the park hits a home run. “The RED Bike Park is poised to be the cornerstone for the community of Rossland, the promotion of local tourism, outdoor recreation in the Kootenays, and to elevate Rossland as the premier four-season basecamp for a multitude of outdoor experiences,” says RED General Manager, Andrew Lunt.
Episode Two drops this April, shifting the focus to the terrain itself—an intimate look at the design, process and craft of the Gravity Logic crew as they sculpt RED’s bold MTB dream.
Alongside this cinematic tribute, the park website is now live, packed with trail maps, FAQs and everything riders need to gear up and start ripping.
Looking ahead, RED is strengthening its partnership with the Kootenay Columbia Trails Society and will continue to support community trails and expand its vision for the park—ensuring that riders of all levels have access to an ever-evolving experience.
