The new short film is a glorious rundown of climber and all-around adventurer Tim Emmett’s most legendary sends…so far.

By most metrics, Tim Emmett has accomplished more than enough in his five decades of givin’er in the wilderness to warrant a movie twice as long as Mad For It. And yet the 16-minute film, which dropped a few weeks ago, is actually a perfect fit for Tim’s character—forward driving, packed with adventure and, importantly, quite a lot of fun.
“It was pretty wild to see,” Tim says of the film. “To see everything I’ve done condensed to such a short period of time…it makes me feel good that I’ve filled my life with so much adventure. And seeing my wife and son in there is huge.”

Directed by Jon Glassberg (who shares writing credit with Jess Glassberg) the film—narrated by UK television star Julia Bradbury— delivers a barrage of adventure clips from Tim’s escapades, which include hugely technical ice routes on BC’s Helmcken Falls (Intersellar Spice, WI12 and Mission to Mars WI13), redpoints of Superman (5.14c) in Squamish, The Path (5.14R) in Banff National Park, the first ascent of Muy Caliente (E9 6c) in the UK and the first ascent of Kedar Dome’s east face in India.

“Sometimes I feel like I need to do more,” Tim says, “but I hope the movie inspires people to get out and do whatever is on their minds.”
Fresh off what he calls “the coolest ice climb in coastal BC,” Tim says he will spend his spring getting in shape for some local Squamish/Howe Sound rock projects this summer. At age 51, he shows no signs of slowing down so don’t be surprised to see those projects pop up in Mad For It 2 someday.
