Swedish outdoor apparel maker Peak Performance wanted to make the most of the leftover fabric on its shelves, and the result speaks volumes about good design and sustainability. Part of their new limited edition Helium Capsule, the relaxed-fit hooded Helium Utility Flo (available for women and men) is lightweight, packable, warm and stylish.

This puffy doesn’t shrink from foul weather, with a wind- and water-repellent outer membrane and premium 90/10 down insulation. You can wear it on its own in shoulder season or under a shell for extra warmth in winter. Peak Performance uses only responsibly sourced down, fully traceable through the Track My Down program.

Made of leftovers? You’d never know it. The Peak Performance designers have turned leftovers into a plus, using a patchwork motif to create a fashion template with all the functionality of any non-leftover garment. And it’s a better option for a planet swimming in garment waste.

Our tester Amelie said the following: “The feathered-down Helium Utility Flo feels like you’re not even wearing it at all. A warm and light-as-can-be cocoon envelopes you and keeps you cozy from chilly mornings to bonfire-side evenings. The relaxed cut is comfortable and the sleeves and waist can be perfectly adjusted to the body. The wind- and water-repellent garment has multiple pockets conveniently placed and it packs down small, making it the perfect adventure companion. Plus, you can feel good about your purchase knowing it was made using leftover fabric.”
