The backbone of all On Running footwear is the cushioning system CloudTec, which absorbs impact, reduces strain and adapts to your running style.
Whether you’re on a trail or on pavement, CloudTec reacts according to your movements, compressing horizontally and vertically to cushion just where it should.
CloudTec’s “deformation” system absorbs impact, reduces braking force and propels you forward.
Our tester Susan had nothing but good things to say about the two road runners she tried, the Cloudmonster and Cloudstratus. In other runners her feet had a tendency to roll, but never with On runners. Her sum-up of the On running experience was simple: “Life-changing.”
Cloudmonster
The burliest CloudTec system ever delivers massive cushioning and energy. This is truly a monster of a road ride that offers soft landings where you need them most.

This road runner is light, durable and very breathable, with a rocker shape for rebound and energy return. The foot lockdown is reassuring and the very thick midsole means a high rate of compression, so your ride will be well-cushioned for the long haul. The Cloudmonster didn’t require break-in; it was good to go out of the box (as was the Cloudstratus).
Our tester found the Cloudmonster narrower in the toebox, and the collar slightly tight (though of course, this would vary depending on the runner’s ankle circumference).
Cloudstratus
The Cloudstratus uses Helion foam in two layers for a road performance shoe, from 5k to a marathon. Our tester found the Cloudstratus more roomy in the forefoot than the Cloudmonster.

The inner sock liner (adhered to the tongue) is soft and wicking. The upper boasts an anatomical fit with excellent flex as you crush your local pavement. Our tester remarked on the propulsive forward motion the shoe added to her stride. The CloudTec system is really in evidence here—the high-energy return is unmistakeable with each footfall. Also of note is the five-star lacing system that allows runners to fine-tune their fit.
On Climate Shirt
We like multifunctional gear and this tops our list for every season. Whether you’re running, hiking or out on a morning walk, the lightweight Climate Shirt with four-way stretch will keep off the chill, never overheat and wick sweat like a champ.

The brilliantly engineered 3D waffle design stays cool in the heat and warm in the cold—and it’s 100% recycled polyester to boot. Includes a discreet drop-in side pocket, thumbholes and a watch window. Available for women and men.
