We don’t want wet weather to slow us down, ever. So we’re well pleased with GORE-TEX Invisible Fit technology, which gives you a 100% waterproof, water-shedding trail-runner with zero extra weight.

The GORE-TEX Invisible Fit tech is different in several ways. By matching the membrane to the footwear upper material through the direct-bond process, wrinkles and folds are eliminated, creating a true-to-size forefoot area. Bonded directly into the shoe, the construction is “invisible.” The resulting fit is so perfect, it’s like a second skin.

We tried the new Nike Pegasus Trail 3 GORE-TEX (available in women’s and men’s). The Invisible Fit’s flexible construction reduces weight and creates fewer pressure points. (For a trail runner, unwanted pressure points can really nag your foot over time.) And the shoe is very light and extremely fast-drying.

We poured the contents of a water bottle on these shoes and our feet emerged dry (while the material retained barely three droplets). You can run through a downpour and avoid that “soaker” feeling that can weigh down a non-waterproof shoe. And unlike other waterproof trail-runners we’ve tried in the past, the Pegasus Trail is highly breathable—so you can run on the hottest summer days.
In short: GORE-TEX Invisible Fit footwear offers runners top waterproof-breathable performance with the same fit/feel as a lightweight non-waterproof shoe.
