Here’s a bit of Skadi backstory: “While not a household name today, Skaði shows up in nearly all the surviving Norse mythological texts. These oral stories were passed down for two centuries before being written down in the late Middle Ages. And in all of them, Skaði is a force to be reckoned with. Skaði storms Asgard (home of the gods) and demands revenge after her father is killed in a tit-for-tat with Loki the trickster. The gods offer her compensation, the most enticing part being that she can pick a husband from the gods—but she’s only allowed to choose by the sight of their feet. She picks the best-looking pair, hoping for the handsome Baldr (son of Odin, ruler of the gods), and winds up with Njörd, god of wind and sea. It proves a poor match. Njörd is from the coast, and Skaði the mountains. They attempt to inhabit each other’s domains but Njörd can’t sleep through the howling of the wolves, and the chattering seagulls are enough to make Skaði jump ship on the marriage. She returns home to Thrymheim ‘where the snow never melts’ to ski and hunt as she pleases.” –Nikkey Dawn

Konnect Adventure Headphones

Doing laps at Blue Mountain I watch my buddies fiddling around with their iPhone headphones…I’m jealous they have tunes to ski with, but I know better. I see the dangling wires, I watch them pulling gloves off and on, pausing and starting the music every time they get on or off the lift. Plus I’ve never been able to get earbuds to stay in my ears with a ski helmet on. I learned years ago I’m not down to deal with all that hassle. I knew when I saw a system that would work for me, I’d get it. And for me, this KONNECT ADVENTURE system is it. The two speakers fit easily into my helmet’s ear flaps, the 3 Button Remote quickly stuck to the back of my helmet and the whole system was ready to rock in about 12 minutes. I’ll never have to deal with it again, I just have to plug it in once in a while. I now have full control of my entire system with chunky winter gloves on. You can plug the Konnect into your 2-way radio for extra backcountry safety or use it as a GoPro external mic. My ski helmet will always have music now. And so will my motorcycle helmet. My only question for Konnect is, How are we going to get speakers in my XC helmet?!
