‘Color the Crag’ Is a Glimpse Into How Diverse The Outdoors Could Be

It’s important to note something about this video before we share it—it was originally published 11 months ago. Long before the Black Lives Matter movement was at the forefront of all of our consciousness, Color the Crag was celebrating it’s second annual gathering to promote diversity in rock climbing, yoga, meditation, and outdoor education.

“If you don’t desire and make an attempt o climb your own wall—you will always struggle with climbing any other wall. Why are you trying to tear down some wall that someone else built when you have a wall up yourself?”

In its second year, the festival attracted over 300 people from across the country and is proof that it’s not a lack of interest in the outdoors that holds people of colour from participating in outdoor activities—it’s the system.  — ML
