When Yvon Chouinard and his motley crew pointed their van south from Ventura, CA to head down to Patagonia, the adventure was one of a kind—and it still is today. Loaded up with surfboards and climbing gear, the crews’ plan was simple—live cheaply, and make it to Patagonia for an attempt at a first ascent of the infamous Cerro Fitz Roy.
Their adventure changed the way we look at adventure, and it is something that most modern-day van-lifers and adventurers would model their dream trip after. Check out the full movie documenting their 5,000 mile journey, and get ready to get outside when the time comes—it’ll be worth the wait. —ML
