From Dying Mining Town to Mountain Bike Mecca

The sad truth of most of the mining towns across the North American west is that they often have a hard time sustaining success post—mining. Towns are left decimated, mostly admired for their “ghost-town” status.  Downieville, California went through two booms: one for mining, and one for timber. Conventional wisdom would leave us to believe it was another one of those ghost towns, but lucky for us, mountain biking found it. Check out this awesome story from Patagonia of how Downieville found it’s identity, and turned into a biking mecca. —ML
