Mountain Bikers Set The 24-Hour Downhill Record

Records are meant to be broken. Last October, Amir Kabbani and Patrick Schweika set the new Guinness World Records achievement for the largest amount of vertical descended in a 24-hour period, setting a new record of 40,840.5 meters and shattering the old record of 32,796.9 meters.

The team accomplished the feat by riding the Bikepark Schladming descent of 1074.75 meters as many times as possible in the 24 hour period, riding through the night and finally breaking the record at 6:30 AM. The team accomplished the feat with a crew of 50 people including mechanics, physiotherapists, organizers, officials, and a whole boatload of media. Not bad, team.
