It is with heavy hearts that we report that legendary freeskier Dave Treadway, age 38, has died after a skiing accident just outside of Pemberton, B.C. The mountain community and a countless number of loved ones lost a good man, father, and friend to so many. Dave is survived by his wife and two sons.
The Pique News reports that Dave fell 98-feet into a crevasse, ultimately sustaining injuries that led to his death after being extracted in a long and extensive recovery by Pemberton District Search and Rescue.
There may no better video than the heart-wrenching “Malibu Fable” to perfectly portray a man who went into the mountains for the right reasons, and always shared his experiences with others and his beloved family.
Always known for his stoke and high level of skill in the mountains, Dave was not afraid to share what he loved with the rest of the world through countless ski movie segments and more recently, his Instagram account “freerange.family”. A GoFundMe page has been launched in support of his family.
With heavy hearts we extend our condolences and big love to all the Treadways, and anyone else who was touched by an unbelievable spirit. Rest easy, Dave. – ML
