Jump in the hot seat and experience some moments of speed flying in the Alps during March 2018. We started with a few killer warm up days in Val D’Isere, France where we took full advantage of the area’s variety in accessible speed flying terrain. In North America, we have to ski tour into the mountains to fly. Here in France you can hop on a lift, harness on and espresso in hand, and within minutes you’re at the top of beautiful lines with big open powder fields and intricate cliff sections.
Next, we made our way to Les Diablerets, Switzerland to meet with Swiss speed flying pioneer, Ueli Kestenholz. We lucked out with a sleeper blue bird pow day and utilized our wings to ski the vast bowl below the main tram and then continued to lay tracks to the edge of the massive waterfall at the bottom of the closeout line. The ability to combine the sports of free skiing and flying is like jumping into a 3D video game where the possibilities are endless. Here is a short video of our trip, enjoy!
