Meet Travis’ Rice’s Japanese Powder Mentor

One of the standout segments from Travis Rice’s masterpiece, The Fourth Phase, was segment  in the area of Hakuba, Japan. Littered with spines, pillows and an unbelievable amount of snow, it is a place unlike anywhere else in the world. While Rice is well known for meticulously scouting and researching areas he rides, putting out a segment in a foreign land is difficult for even the best in the business without a bit of help. For his exploits in Hakuba, Rice recruited Shin Biyajima, a local rider who’s life is dedicated to the mountains. After spending enough time with him during the filming, Rice and his director decided he deserved his own film. Press play for an inspiring, behind the scenes story that is not often told.—ML
