The Optic 6: a secure basecamp tent when bad weather looms.
The Optic 6: a reliable basecamp tent when bad weather looms. Near Byng Inlet, Georgian Bay, Ontario.

Mountain Hardwear’s new Optic 6 tent is now our go-to basecamp shelter for kayak/SUP trips – we split it up between a few people to distribute the load. A true six-person, it will also serve as a capacious family tent with room for an army of stuffed animals. The open architecture boasts twin full-size doors that roll back (the hallmark of the Optic line), standing-height interior, and loads of gear storage options. The Optic is big enough to accommodate 6 adults — sleeping or standing — and all your stuff. Inside, it doesn’t feel like a tent; it feels like a living room.

The tent boasts extensive pocketing throughout to keep your gear safe and maximize storage. Generous vestibules add even more space. And the optional oversized footprint extends the living space into the side vestibule area. Other options include an accessory divider wall and gear lofts.

MSRP: $450 CAD.

Details
-Spacious layout (floor area: 86 sq. ft.) easily accommodates 6 people and gear
-Flysheet: waterproof 75D Polyester Taffeta 1500mm PU
-Doors on adjoining sides roll back to offer huge view and easy access
-2 large canopy doors with dual slider zippers for easy entry
-Dual vestibule design creates a dry entry into tent and room for gear storage. Vestibule area: 17 sq. ft.
-Double-zip end vestibule converts into awning
-Gear can be stored off the floor using canopy pockets or an accessory divider wall or gear lofts (sold separately)
-Optional oversized footprint extends living space to include side vestibule
-DAC DA-17™ poles provide strength and durability
-Reflective colour-coded starter tab on the rainfly and canopy make pitching easy
-Guy out line and line tensioners included.

Who’s having a multi-sport day?! 😆 @timemmett probably is.
Bruce County is much more than the Bruce Peninsula. We’re here to let you in on a secret: a thriving community nestled in Bruce County’s interior region, just waiting to be discovered. The village of Paisley offers something for everyone, and isn’t overrun by summer crowds.
The mere thought of a cougar or any other apex predator in our midst can turn a backcountry adventure into a psychological test of mind over matter. Luckily, our fears are mostly in our heads and few have experienced a negative wildlife encounter. But, for ultramarathoner @samuel.dickie, it got real. #Linkinbio to read more!
