Freshwater – we all live and play in it. Through its Homewaters campaign, MEC has invested over $2 million in freshwater since 2010 and this year is committed to doing more. Here’s how you can help preserve global freshwater and benefit the Canadian Freshwater Alliance.
-Tag a freshwater photo #myhomewaters on Instagram and MEC will donate $5 to the Canadian Freshwater Alliance, up to $20,000. Easy.
-Get your hands on one of 1000 limited-edition MEC and Etsy artist-collab tees—only $35 and all profits go to The Canadian Freshwater Alliance. Designs by Gredin and Paula Lukey. Available at MEC Toronto, Burlington, Montreal (Marche Central), Calgary and Vancouver.
-Check out Water’s Edge, a public exhibition of large-scale photographs highlighting the impact of human development on the world’s freshwater supply. Featuring six of the world’s most renowned photographic artists, including Sebastião Salgado (Brazil) and Edward Burtynsky (Canada), Water’s Edge is commissioned for the 2015 Pan Am and Parapan American Games and produced by No.9: Contemporary Art & the Environment. Sponsored by MEC.
