People of Banff, it’s time to bring out your swimwear.
The tradition continues as Sunshine Village prepares to host its 7th annual Bikinis and Boardshorts event on May 17, 2015.
This event sees skiers and snowboarders of all levels swap out their snow suits for swim suits in the name of fun and a good cause: participants have to raise at least $50 (or $120 in total if you participate as a team of 3), with all funds going towards the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation.
This event seems to grow bigger and badder with each passing year. New additions this year include a dual slalom, beach volleyball (why not – you’re already dressed for the occasion), lives tunes, a BBQ, and prizes for those who dare to go bare.
The spring skiing conditions are normally conducive to skiing in the near-buff, but you never know what Mother Nature will throw your way. Check out this recap of the not-so-warm 2013 event.
You might as well keep your bikinis on – the 87th annual slush cup takes place the next day. It’s a good time to be in Banff.
