I’m horrible at Halloween. Every year, I work out what will be a sick costume for next year, giving myself a year to get all the pieces together. I then forget entirely about the costume until about 2 weeks prior to the 31st, when I know I can’t just cobble it together. I usually resign myself to a truly terrible costume, or just stay out of the festivities all together.
This year was no exception – but this year there’s something to do. Oakley Snowboarding presents Snowboarding For Me, a free film premiere this Friday night at the Imperial Theatre, Vancouver. It’s the perfect storm of snowboarding films: For starters, it’s a 19+ deal. It’s also free entry – first come first served, until the house is full. To top it all off, some of the stars of the show will be in house as well to sign autographs, take pictures, and generally get zany with the rest of us. JP Walker, Eero Etalla, Jake Blauvelt, and Mark McMorris, to be more specific. And, if that wasn’t enough, there’ll still be a movie to watch. (Trailer below.)
Some of the biggest names in the business were involved in this project, from the guys named above to Shaun White to Terje Haakonsen, Danny Kass to Torsten Horgmo. Basically, the reason why you started snowboarding will probably feature in this flick. More information can be found at SnowboardingForMe.com – and of course, there’s going to be a costume party. Best of both worlds right there – just don’t have a comically large papier-mache head in the cinema. Don’t be that guy.
(If you can’t make it to the premiere, the movie will be available on iTunes November 4th.)
