KEEN’s new Durand WP hiking shoe (available in low and mid cut) delivers long-lasting durability and dependable performance thanks to the KEEN PU and dual compound rubber outsole.
KEEN’s industry-leading PU (polyurethane) in the midsole resists breakdown and compression, while preserving its shock-absorbing qualities, keeping you comfortable through all the shocks of the rockiest hiking. The outsole’s two distinct types of rubber – one around the perimeter for edging and grip, and another in the centre to for durability – mean maximum grip and security. And the Durand keeps your feet dry and comfortable, thanks to KEEN.DRY, a proprietary waterproof/breathable membrane.
KEEN conducted compression tests showing that even after a million steps, the midsole compressed only 3 percent (compared to the more than 50 percent compression of a traditional EVA midsole).
To launch the Durand, KEEN is unrolling a global hiking sweepstakes, asking fans to imagine the unique adventures they might find by taking one million steps. Touting the long-lasting comfort of the Durand WP hiker, KEEN is encouraging fans to start wandering, and to share their stoke.
The hiking prize package for two includes airfare to KEEN’s home in Portland, OR, four nights in a hotel, a tour of KEEN’s headquarters and Portland factory to see Durand hiking boots being made, and guided hiking in the Columbia River Gorge with KEEN ambassadors.
