An upcoming Meaford Hall retrospective celebrates two painters who memorialized the Georgian Bay region and its diverse landscapes. Chuck and Margot Finley got their start in commercial art, working in the Eaton’s Department Store advertising department in Toronto for many years, perfecting their own work in their spare time.
They retired to a waterfront cottage in Meaford, Chuck’s birthplace, in the 1960s. The Retrospective will showcase a representative sample of their works painted from the early 1920s into the 1980s.
Loaned by owners far and wide, the works illuminate local landscapes in thoughtful colours and loving detail.
The Retrospective opens on June 4th, with an opening reception at Meaford Hall on June 5th from 7 to 9 p.m. to which the public is invited. The show will run for two months, until July 30th.
The Meaford Hall Galleries are on the second floor of the Hall. Entry to the exhibition is free of charge.
