ZEAL snowboarder Kimmy Fasani will be taking the stage in New York City this week during the 2013 Green Sports Alliance Summit as part of a panel titled “Athletes Stepping Up to Bat for the Planet.”

In 2011 she became the first female snowboarder to land a double backflip in both the park and the pow, a signal achievement in women’s riding. She was also was one of three pro women selected to film with Standard Films, resulting in her own full segment in TB20 (where you can see her landing that double backflip).

Sadly, last year Fasani tore the ACL, MCL, and PCL ligaments in her knee and is currently on a year-long rehabilitation program, riding for Specialized.

Fasani wrote about the Green Sports Alliance Summit in a recent email to ZEAL. “The 2013 Summit features a diverse program of workshops, industry roundtables, venue tours, inspiring keynotes and plenaries on pivotal topics,” she writes, “[with] more than 80 leaders from across the sport and sustainability industries; an abundance of high level networking opportunities; and collaborative dialogue with peers on working solutions and sustainable practices.”
