Wentworth is located in Nova Scotia’s Cobequid Hills, a 30-minute drive from the city of Truro. With a wide selection of activities, more and more people are discovering Wentworth as a year-round destination. The mountain itself has a vertical drop of 248 metres, and 150 acres of groomed terrain comprising the 25 downhill runs and three terrain parks.
Wentworth’s winter activities include alpine skiing, snowboarding, cross-country skiing, snowmobiling and snowshoeing. A great social scene is found at the ski lodge which doubles as a local pub with live music every weekend. Plan your trip in January and check out the annual Robbie Burns Day celebration. The rule is, wear a kilt and ski for free. With an average snowfall of 250 cm and new snowmaking equipment doubling the resort’s snowmaking capability, Wentworth is a great place to get an early start to your winter season.
In the summer, Wentworth lends itself to mountain biking, ATVing, hiking and kayaking. Wentworth’s newly built dry-slope airbag facility allows kids and adults to practice their tricks before taking them to the snow. Or if you’re looking to get your hands dirty in an obstacle course, Wentworth hosts both the Spartan Race and Foam Fest every summer. Not your scene? Take the 20-minute drive to the Northumberland Strait and go for a swim at one of the beautiful beaches.
